Runaway Mommy

The best day of my life was also the day my life would change forever. It was the day I would stop living for myself. Everyday after that the answer to the question: “Who am I?” would be, “Jada’s mom.”

Ok, here it is… This is a confession to my fellow moms and moms-to-be… Yes I did it! Don’t hate me! I’m gonna say it .. That forbidden N-word.. I know some moms don’t use this kind of language but thats not me. When baby Jada made two months I decided to get a NANNY. Hello? Are you guys still there?! I listened to all the advice about not letting a stranger help you raise your child etc.. But let me tell you- as a first time mom this stranger is one of the best things that ever happened to me!

Just hear me out. Every mom has to figure out what works for her and her baby and this is what works for me. I needed time to myself to take a bath, sleep, have sex with my man, use the bathroom, work out and write a blog post… Anything you can think of… add that to the list!

I love my daughter with every ounce of me and she completes me. She eases my soul, and when life gets hard she’s my whole reason for existing. With all that said, don’t forget to be a woman too, and if you can do that without any help and without a nanny or daycare or even their grandmothers house, then my hat goes off to you!

For moms who are feeling guilty about needing a break- DON’T! Take your breaks as much as you can. They are well deserved and much needed! Trust me, it will even make you a better mom. Take a day to yourself and lay in bed all day if you want, and eat a bunch of snacks, and watch like four movies and take two naps in a big ass dirty shirt with residue from all your snacks you ate the whole day. Then do this last thing for me: put a sign on your door that reads, “YA MOMMA AIN’T HERE TODAY.” Lol
